Article Analysis Session 1: Wednesday 4 May

The article for our first article analysis session on Wednesday 4 May is "Reasoning From Unfamiliar Premises: A Study With Unschooled Adults" by Maria Dias, Antonio Roazzi and Paul L. Harris (Published in Psychological Science in 2005).

You should be able to access the article (free of charge) via the Library's e-Journal portal by follwing this link:

(You will need to have set up your Library PIN)

ALL students must have read the article and be prepared to be able to analyse any aspect of it relevant to the analysis framework questions (introduced in class on Wednesday 30 March).

If you have any difficulty accessing this article, please contact Michael Pitman via email.

As indicated in class, the group for a given week will take responsibility for leading the discussion of the article for that week. Everyone else in the class will have read the article and be prepared to provide answers to any of the article analysis questions.

Attendance of all article analysis sessions is compulsory, and register will be taken. For all article analysis sessions (4 May to 8 June), missing class (for whatever reason) will mean that you have to hand in a written analysis of that session's article before the start of the next session the following week. There will be no exceptions, no matter what the circumstances.

If you are unable to present in the week allocated to you, you will need to arrange a swap and inform Michael P. and Nicky of that swap. (Note: you may only change groups because you are unable to attend a particular session. Given the point made above, if you arrange a swap, you will obviously have to had in a written version of the article analysis for the session you are unable to attend.)
